AFL Single-Mode LC/LC Fiber Ring — FR01-00-0925
The AFL FR01-00-0925 is a single-mode LC/LC fiber ring — a compact, precision-wound launch/receive cable engineered for OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) testing of fiber optic links. Fiber rings eliminate the OTDR dead zone at the near end of a fiber span, allowing technicians to accurately measure the insertion loss of both the near-end and far-end connections in a fiber optic link.
How Fiber Rings Work
When an OTDR fires a pulse into a fiber, the instrument cannot detect reflections in the first several meters due to the “dead zone” caused by the initial Fresnel reflection. By inserting a fiber ring between the OTDR and the fiber under test, the dead zone is pushed beyond the first connector, allowing the OTDR to resolve and measure that critical near-end connection loss accurately. The LC/LC connection type makes this ring compatible with LC-pigtailed OTDR ports and LC-terminated fiber plant — the most common connector type in modern structured cabling and telecommunications installations.
Key Features
- Single-mode fiber construction for use with 1310 nm and 1550 nm OTDR wavelengths
- 150-meter cable length — sufficient to clear the OTDR dead zone on virtually all modern OTDR platforms
- LC/LC connector configuration — compatible with LC-pigtailed OTDRs and LC-terminated fiber plant
- Compact form factor for easy transport and use in the field
- Manufactured by AFL Telecommunications — a trusted name in fiber optic test and connectivity products
Applications
- OTDR testing of single-mode fiber optic links in telecommunications, enterprise, and data center environments
- Insertion loss measurement of near-end and far-end LC connectors
- Fiber acceptance testing, troubleshooting, and network certification
- Field use by OSP and ISP fiber technicians, network contractors, and telecommunications engineers
